Design for the Soft Surface
Workshops focus on integrating surface design with altered wheel-thrown and hand built pottery.  Workshops can be hands-on or lecture/demonstration depending on the needs of the participants.  Demonstrations include soft throwing, altering, working with foam slump molds, slip decorating, glaze inlay, decorative resists, and stamping.

During the workshop we will discuss aesthetic issues (i.e. proportions, color theory, etc.), defining a conceptual foundation for making functional pottery, and motivation/idea derivation. Lecture topics include historic/contemporary ceramics and professional practices (creating demand through exhibitions and online prescience). Individual or group critiques are optional.

Please contact me at carterpottery(at)gmail(dot)com for scheduling and pricing.
