Check out my Sept/ Oct PMI article "Elevating Earthenware"

I recently had an article published in Pottery Making Illustrated about my method of building and decorating. The article "Elevating Earthenware" highlights surface decoration techniques that can help build depth at cone 04 with slips and glazes. It also shows the foam/cloth mold technique that I developed while I was in Florida. I haven't actually seen the article yet so let me know how it looks if your a subscriber.

These images below show a close up of the molds in action.

  1. Congrats on the article -- I'm not a subscriber so post a link when it's available to read online! I'd love to read it.

  2. Hi Ben,
I have noticed your name come up in events and shows through the years; It was good to come across your new work. It feels strong and mature and yet has a quiet tenderness in it, it is very real in some way. I enjoyed the technical shots as well, they are well taken and illustrative.
Please comment on my new website; and do come back. Congratulations to your Shanghai position!

  3. I'm glad you posted the close up picture. I completely understand now, that I saw the close up picture. In PMI I couldn't quite see the cloth pillows in the magazine. Great article!!
